Hitting the road for a little road trip last summer to meet this group was so much fun. The moment I pulled into the farmyard, some of the kids ran up to meet me and introduce themselves and start talking with me. They were so excited for the spending the evening with all of their cousins!
I got to take a walk around the farm, scouting out the best locations, the prettiest spaces to capture the late summer sun, and believe me, this yard is set up for all the family get togethers! They have a zipline, tons of space for all the kids to run and explore, and they have a GIANT tree complete with not one, but many swings for everyone to kick their feet and enjoy the summer breezes and the grass beneath their toes.
The best part of an extended family session is making it an experience for everyone. Keeping it casual and fun is key for the kids to have the most fun, as they do take a larger chunk of time than just shooting one family. We are able to get so many combinations, ranging from the full group all together, to just the grandkids, just the adult kids, individuals, couples, and individual families, and any of groupings we can think of during our time together! Here’s a small selection of what were were all able to capture during this session, there were so many more variations that I was able to deliver to them in the final gallery.
The best way to wrap up the evening, Grandma had promised Kinder Eggs for all the littles if they behaved! And believe me, these kids were all so happy, kind, and polite that they earned that treat and more!! I can’t wait to catch up with this family again in the future and see how everyone has grown and changed!
